On July 1st, join CAIS and cheese lovers across Europe in celebrating European Farmhouse and Artisan Cheese Day – a new initiative by the FACE Network (Farmhouse and Artisan Cheesemakers of Europe) that shines a spotlight on the incredible work of small-scale cheesemakers.
This is a grassroots celebration – powered by real people, passionate producers, and a shared love of farmhouse and artisan cheese. Help us honour farmhouse and artisan cheesemakers for their traditional skills, their deep respect for the land and animals, and their dedication to their craft.
How You Can Get Involved:
Whether you’re a cheesemaker, a retailer, or simply someone who loves good food, there are plenty of simple and meaningful ways to support the campaign:
🧀 Support your local cheesemaker – visit their farm shop or stall
🛒 Buy farmhouse cheese at your local deli, supermarket, or farmers market – wherever you find it
📸 Share a photo of your favourite cheese or cheeseboard on social media
🥖 Post a recipe or serving suggestion featuring farmhouse cheese
📍 Tag your favourite Irish cheesemakers to help spread the word
🧺 Host a picnic, lunch, or tasting with family and friends
